The Project has strongly focused on activities targeting the poor. The rural micro-finance through women savings and credit groups capitalizes poor households so that they can develop their business and/or strenghthen their production. In addtion, vocational training programs provide rural poor labors with job skills and opportunities to get jobs to impove their livelihoods. And other investments identified through the pro-poor value chains have been found to be very beneficial for the poor.
The Project aims at reducing the poverty of the participating communes to 22% in 2012. Though this target is pretty ambitious, the project team believes that the Project will reach its final goal.
